On the first exit An exclusive media interview for him on Al-Shorouk News screenHe singled out the handsome child, President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, with the highest expressions of thanks, appreciation and gratitude, followed by sending a greeting to the Algerian Football Federation and the interests of the Algerian embassy and consulate in the United States of America, as well as all segments of the Algerian people, in exchange for their official and rapid intervention to provide all support and assistance to him and his family and to follow up on the ongoing investigations to restore his reputation and punish those involved.

Waseem confirmed that this broad gesture of solidarity helped him a lot and gave him great psychological comfort. He reassured public opinion that his health condition began to gradually return to its normal state thanks to medical care, even though he is still living under the influence of great psychological shock as a result of this shocking incident due to the huge number of people who gathered against him and beat him brutally and suddenly in the middle of the public square.

Regarding the details of the incident and how he arrived at the scene, 14-year-old Wassim revealed that he initially traveled with a group of his Moroccan friends from the American state of Kansas to watch the national team’s match with its Austrian counterpart in the 2026 World Cup.

He explained that his Moroccan friends, who study with him and live with him in the same area, were the ones who suggested that he go together to the fan zone to watch the Moroccan national team’s match against its Dutch counterpart, noting that he accepted their invitation and went with them to watch the football match and listen to the sports atmosphere, repeating before the attack the phrase, “God willing, Morocco will win.”

Wassim added that the situation turned completely into an arena of violence after the final whistle of the aforementioned match was blown, as skirmishes and large group clashes broke out in the arena, and the victim confirmed that the assailants, who numbered approximately 35 people, continued to kick and punch him while he was helpless. He stopped defending himself, at a time when his friends completely abandoned him and fled the place and disowned him.

Yesterday, Thursday, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced that the Algerian authorities are following with great interest the case of Wassim, who was blatantly assaulted in the United States of America, stressing that American justice will take its legal and strict course in this case.

President Tebboune said, after performing his electoral duty within the framework of the legislative elections at the level of the Ahmed Orwa School in Algiers, that Wassim has left the hospital and we are closely monitoring his health conditions. His direct response to a question from Al-Shorouk News Channel.

He added to the national and international media that he is in continuous and permanent communication with the Algerian Ambassador to the United States of America, Sabri Boukadoum, and the Minister of Sports, Walid Sadi, stressing that all necessary measures have been taken in coordination with justice and the American police to pursue the perpetrators. The President of the Republic indicated that Wassim was officially invited to attend the match between the national team and its Swiss counterpart in the 2026 World Cup competitions.

Waseem’s uncle had earlier reassured public opinion regarding his nephew’s health condition, after he was physically assaulted in the vicinity of the Moroccan national team’s match against its Dutch counterpart.

The victim’s uncle revealed in statements he made to Al-Shorouk News channel that Waseem has passed the stage of medical danger, but he is currently still under continuous medical surveillance, indicating that he has undergone all necessary medical examinations at the hospital in Boston and that his current health condition has become stable and reassuring.

The same spokesman explained that the services of the Algerian embassy in Washington contacted directly with the victim’s family to follow up on the case and provide the necessary support, while his father began taking all necessary legal measures and filing a lawsuit due to the fact that Wassim is a minor child who holds American and Algerian citizenship, pointing out that the American security services opened a judicial investigation into the incident.

At the same time, Uncle Waseem denied what was circulated on some pages regarding the arrest of the suspects, stressing that the perpetrators, who may number more than 35 people, have not yet been arrested, and investigations are still ongoing to determine their identities.

In the same context, Uncle Waseem refuted all the rumors that tried to cast doubt on the incident, categorically denying what was circulating that the video clip was old or that the incident occurred outside the territory of the United States of America, and stressing that the case is real and is receiving close official and diplomatic follow-up.

A source told Al-Shorouk News that the FBI intervened and took over the investigation into the brutal assault incident that Waseem was subjected to, after information was circulated about parties making deliberate attempts to mislead public opinion by promoting a digital fabrication of the video, claiming that it was an old video or outside the United States in an attempt to cast doubt on the occurrence of the crime.

While investigations are still underway to uncover the full circumstances of the attack, social media platforms witnessed a widespread outpouring of solidarity from supporters and Algerian communities, who stood united with Wassim and his family to demand justice.

It is noteworthy that Wassim had moved with a group of his Moroccan friends to the fan zone to watch the match that brought together the Moroccan national team and its Dutch counterpart in the 2026 World Cup final.

Published data indicate that Wassim was wearing the Algerian national shirt, and at the same time he was enthusiastically supporting and encouraging the Moroccan team in order to advance the bonds of brotherhood and Arabism. However, the situation suddenly turned after the Dutch team scored a goal against Morocco, where the child found himself the victim of a brutal and sudden attack in which approximately 35 fans present at the scene participated.

What is striking in the details of the incident is that Waseem found himself completely alone in the face of this violence after his friends, whom he accompanied to the parade square, abandoned him and fled the place, leaving him suffering alone.

It is noteworthy that the strict law in the United States of America severely punishes anyone proven to have physically assaulted minors and children with custodial penalties ranging from 20 to 25 years in prison.

Earlier, the clip of the attack on Waseem was widely spread across various social media platforms, sparking a wave of anger and interaction, as it topped the trend amid demands to follow up on the case and punish the attackers.
