Tindouf (Algeria), June 9, 2026 (SPS) – The Director General of the Algerian Archives, Mr. Mohamed Bounaama, confirmed the continuation of cooperation with the archival institutions of the Sahrawi Republic.
This came during his supervision of the opening of the activities of the World Archives Week, organized in coordination between the General Directorate of the National Archives and the local authorities, with the participation of executives and archivists from various departments and public bodies, in the state of Tindouf.
Bounaama stressed the continuation of cooperation with the archival institutions of the Sahrawi Republic, through training programs and technical support in the areas of document management, digitization, and improving administrative performance.
In a related context, Bounaama pointed out that celebrating the archive is not limited to recalling the past, but rather aims to employ national memory in building the future of Algeria, noting that this event highlights the importance of the archive as a basic pillar for preserving collective memory and supporting the path of development.
The Algerian official stressed the importance of qualifying human resources working in the field of archives, noting that archivists benefit from specialized training courses in the normative, legislative and procedural aspects related to digital transformation and the management of electronic documents and data.
