The writer and researcher in the Amazigh heritage, Mohamed Saleh Oneissi, passed away today, Sunday, at his family home in Khenchela, at the age of 77, according to what his relatives reported to the Algerian News Agency.
The late Mohamed Saleh Oneissi is considered one of the most prominent researchers in the Amazigh heritage, the author of 15 books and dictionaries in Amazigh, Arabic and French, and the facilitator of many radio sessions aimed at teaching young people the rules and foundations of the Amazigh language with the Shawi variant.
The late man’s record is rich in numerous books, dictionaries, and collections of poetry, including “Issa Al-Jarmouni, the Pioneer of the Chaotic Song,” “The Roots of Eurasian Music,” “Eurasian Culture and History,” “Axel ad Dehia” (Axel and Dehia), “Thamna Nomenzo” (Autumn Rain), in addition to popular proverbs and proverbs from the Eurasians.
In 2018, he received an honor from the High Prefecture of the Amazigh Language, and in 2025, he received an honor from the Prefecture of the National Cultural Festival for Shawian Music and Song.
