The meeting of the City Council of the City of Mostar, convened for June 10, will have only one item on the agenda, i.e. it will discuss the granting of consent for the concession to the Mostar airport, reports Biznisinfo.ba.
As they state, the American company AAFS Infrastructure Energy LLC, which is engaged in the Southern Gas Interconnection project, submitted a letter of intent and offered an investment of 250 million euros for the concession of airports in Sarajevo and Mostar.
The case has entered the evaluation phase of the competent ministry in order to determine the public interest, but the final decision on granting consent according to this model has not yet been adopted.
We remind you that the concession of Sarajevo Airport would have to be approved by the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the decision on the Mostar Airport rests with the City Council, Bljesak reported.
Councilors of the Bosniak Club, who do not want to participate in City Council sessions, said that they will only attend this session because of the American investment.
Earlier, the general director of the Mostar Airport, Marko Đuzel, and the chargé d’affaires at the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, John Ginkel, met because of this issue, when they “discussed how American expertise, equipment and resources can help in expanding the airport, modernizing the infrastructure and creating a logistics and service hub in Mostar that would serve the entire region”.
– More jobs, tourism growth and better regional connectivity are opportunities that American investments can bring to Mostar International Airport, the American Embassy said.
The focus of potential cooperation is placed on the physical expansion of existing capacities with the help of American expertise and resources, as well as on the thorough modernization of infrastructure through the acquisition of new equipment and the modernization of facilities.
The realization of these plans would bring more direct flights to European destinations and, the Embassy points out, would make it much easier for travelers to discover the tourist potential of Herzegovina, and at the same time would strengthen the ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States of America.
