James Burroughs, one of the most influential and prolific television directors and producers of all time, has died aged 85, they called the American media. The news of his death was confirmed by his lawyer Tom Hobermanannouncing that the famous creator passed away peacefully. The cause of death has not yet been announced.
Burroughs was a key figure behind the cult sitcom The Health Cafe, and also left a deep mark on Friends, Taxi, Frasier, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men and Will & Grace – directing all episodes of the original series, as well as .
He was born in California and grew up in New York, where he took his first steps in the theater. Burroughs began his Hollywood story directing episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. That began a career that spanned more than five decades, during which he directed a record 1,000 television episodes.
A great humanist behind the cameras and an unexpected actor
Interestingly, Burroughs occasionally wanted to appear in front of the cameras, so social networks are already recalling his brief roles in the first season of “Friends”, as well as in the series “The Return”. In one of his last interviews, he said that the most important thing in his career was to “always bring laughter to people.”

Burroughs is survived by his wife, Debbie Easton, a famous Hollywood stylist who inspired him to write his memoirs, as well as four daughters, one of whom is from his wife’s previous marriage.
