The Tajikistan national team successfully performed at the Asian and Oceania Sambo Championships and Youth Championships, which were held in Manila (Philippines).
Already in the first two days of the tournament, Tajik athletes won eight medals in different age categories.
In the junior competition (sport sambo), Bobojon Kodirov won a silver medal in the 58 kg weight category. Abdullo Kodirov won the bronze medal in the 64 kg category. In combat sambo among juniors (64 kg), silver went to Nizomiddin Zoidov.
There are also several awards among youth in sports sambo. In the 58 kg category, Khusein Jalilov won bronze, and Abdulmanon Nabiev took third place in the 71 kg weight category.
In the 79 kg category, Muminjon Zoidov won the silver medal. In the 88 kg weight category, Sabur Sadirzoda won bronze, and in the over 98 kg category, Muhammadjon Akhmedov took third place.
In the next two days of the tournament, the Tajikistan team replenished its medal box. Thus, Ubaidi Devashtich became the Asian champion among adults in the weight of 79 kg in sports sambo. Bronze medals were won by Esin Khukumatov (71 kg) in sports sambo, and Muhammadjoni Muhammadshohzoda (98 kg) and Sievush Solikhov (58 kg) in combat sambo.

It should be noted that the Asian and Oceanian Sambo Championship among adults, as well as the youth championship, were held from June 25 to 28 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila. For the first time in history, the Philippines hosted the main continental sambo competitions.
The tournament brought together about 500 participants from 30 countries, and medals were awarded in three age categories – among youth, juniors and adult athletes.
Fights in sports sambo were held according to a system with elimination and repechage bouts from the finalists, in combat sambo – according to a direct elimination system without repechage bouts.
