The basketball players of SC Derby won the place in the playoff finals of the Montenegrin Championship, after they defeated Sutjeska Elektroprivreda in the second match of the semi-finals – this time in Nikšić, with a score of 97:83.
Petar Mijović’s team will play against Budućnost Voli in the battle for the title.
The match was uncertain almost until the very end, and Derby broke the duel in the last five minutes, when with a series of 9:0, it gained a key advantage that Nikšić was unable to threaten.
During most of the meeting, the teams took turns in the lead and the game was played in an even rhythm.
Sutjeska opened the match better and won the first quarter in their favor (25:16), with a good game from Živanović and Barović. In the second half, the guests fought back, led by Mateo Drežnjak, who already had 19 points at halftime, after scoring 14 in that quarter. The score was 44:44 at the break.
In the sequel, the results seesaw – Sutjeska had a seven-point advantage in the third quarter, but SC Derby managed to turn it around by the end of that period. In the last quarter, it was tied with less than five minutes to go (79:79), after which the guests made a decisive run of 9:0 and went to a double-digit difference (91:81), which they kept until the end.
The most effective player in the winning team was Mateo Drežnjak with 32 points (field shots 10/12, three-pointers 4/5). He was followed by Nikola Pavlićević with 18 points and 6 assists, as well as Aleksa Ilić with 18 points. At Sutjeska, Balša Živanović stood out with 25 points, Christopher Martin scored 19, while Filip Barović added 15.
In the final, SC Derby will play against Budućnost, which also eliminated Mornar with 2:0 in its semi-final.
