The Special Court has decided this Wednesday that the next hearing against former president Ilir Meta and his ex-wife, Monika Kryemadhi, will continue in September, after the holidays.
The next session will take place on September 10, at 11:00.
Ilir Meta has accused the Special Prosecutor’s Office of repeatedly deceiving the court regarding lobbying charges in the USA.
“Unfortunately, in a recidivist way, the prosecution deceives in relation to this case. Not without purpose, we have asked certain people to testify. I was kidnapped on October 21, 2024 on the basis of a forged letter. The letter came in September for the agreement with DSIS”, he said
The head of the Freedom Party and the former president of the country, has indicated that the case against him was first raised in an American newspaper and then meetings were held with the former head of the FBI, Charles McGonigal, who was found guilty by the American justice system.
“This matter has been raised since 2018 by Mother Jones, after the elections in the USA on November 4, when the regime of Charles McGonigal left, as the latter is involved in my investigations and this is confirmed by the American courts. On the way from Albania to Kosovo, McGonigal also received decorations from the municipality. Before this man came to Albania, McGonigal was in Vienna and there is information that he was with Tom Doshin. It is also said that in that meeting he citizen Durim Bami then appeared on the scene and made the report against me. I have given clarifications regarding this matter, said former president Ilir Meta.
He accused SPAK prosecutors in the courtroom of seizing Monika Kryemadhi’s cell phone, saying that he was present at home when the search was made and one of the cell phones that was found was taken.
According to Ilir Meta, Monika Kryemadhi informed the agents that the cell phone was her personal and not that of her mother, Fatima Kryemadhi, so it could not be seized because she was a deputy and had immunity.
“The history of the calls we heard: I was present when the apartment was searched. I was present when Mrs. Kryemadhi claimed that one of the cell phones found there was her personal cell phone. He has made it clear that this is my phone and not my mom’s, and I am a member of parliament, and so on. As far as I remember, they agreed to be recorded in the minutes. Last time we heard that the court said that the examination of Fatime Kryemadhi’s phone should be done, when it is not hers.
These are deliberate actions against Ilir Meta. We presented the list of witnesses in writing at the last hearing. I emphasize once again the call of Edi Rama as a witness. If I had known what Ardian Shatku wanted to do, I would have reacted. He wanted to offer a service that would serve everyone. I would have asked Kazakhstan directly to make a normative act or I would have initiated a law change in the Assembly, but I had no interest.
I was against monopolies and I had resolved this by law in Parliament and I didn’t need to ask anyone for favors. All this is to keep the press of lies and we here will continue a due process of law, so that the truth can be revealed“, former president Ilir Meta declared.
