Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Tourism announced the initiation of the necessary legal and administrative measures, in coordination with the competent state authorities, against a hotel in Algiers, against the backdrop of an incident of attacking state symbols and desecrating the national flag, by implementing an immediate closure procedure and withdrawing the exploitation license.
The Ministry explained, in a statement, that as soon as it learned of the incident, which sparked a widespread wave of dissatisfaction following the spread of a video clip on social media, its competent departments began taking all measures authorized to investigate and determine the merits of the case.
In this context, the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Houria Madahi, issued instructions to move immediately to the hotel establishment called “The Legacy Hotel” in the municipality of Hydra. She also ordered the formation of a field investigation committee headed by the Inspector General of the Ministry and the Director of Tourism and Handicrafts for the State of Algiers, in order to investigate the facts and prepare a detailed report on them.
The action announced today came after a meeting chaired by the Minister devoted to studying the results of the field inspection, where the strict application of the provisions of the legislation and regulation in effect was emphasized, according to the same source.
At the conclusion of its statement, the Ministry of Tourism stressed its “strict commitment to ensuring respect for the laws and regulations framing hotel activity, and not tolerating any behavior or behavior that would harm the symbols of the state or breach the obligations and professional ethics imposed on hotel establishments.”
