12-year-old violinist Eloïse-Marie Aubert was the undisputed star of this year’s National Day civil ceremony at the Philharmonie, captivating the audience with her performance of the third movement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor.
Gast Waltzing, a guest at this year’s broadcast of the celebration, praised the young musician’s achievement. “There is certainly a great talent behind it, but also a very, very great deal of work,” he told RTL.
Aubert, who began playing the violin at the age of four, is currently a student of Vania Lecuit at the Luxembourg City Conservatory. Despite her young age, she has already made a name for herself on the international stage.
In 2025, she won the 32nd Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy, finishing first among 120 participants from 37 countries. The competition featured young musicians born between 1993 and 2017. In 2024, she also claimed first place at the UGDA Young Soloist Competition. In addition, Aubert secured third place at the international Rubinstein Competition in 2025, which was open to participants aged 8 to 15.
With such an impressive track record, many observers expect the young talent to be at the start of a very promising career. Her performance at the Philharmonie drew standing ovations from the audience.
