The Spanish government has approved a bill on Tuesday that will ban smoking and the use of e-cigarettes in outdoor areas, including beaches, parks and places with outdoor seating.

The bill has yet to be passed by a majority in Spain’s parliament.
In addition to the smoking ban, the proposal will also act against young people’s consumption of tobacco and prevent advertising and marketing of tobacco products.
The Spanish Minister of Health, Monica Garcia, believes that greater efforts must be made to protect public health and create a “tobacco-free generation”.
– The goal is simple. We must make clean air the norm in our common spaces, says Garcia at a press conference on Tuesday.
– Pregnant women and people with asthma should be able to enjoy a restaurant visit outdoors without being exposed to smoke from surrounding tables, says the Minister of Health.
Around a quarter of Spain’s adult population smokes daily, figures from the country’s health authorities show, writes AFP.
Last year, France introduced an absolute ban on smoking in parks and on beaches.
France has generally gone hard in the fight against nicotine products.
On 1 April, a ban on the possession of nicotine pouches also came into force. Thus, it is prohibited in France to both use, possess, sell and buy nicotine pouches, also called snus.
It is not yet known what a potential fine will be if you violate the snus ban.
