Over 50 participants gathered for the party’s ordinary general meeting, where the party’s future, local challenges and the path from political promises to concrete action were discussed.
Over 50 people according to the list of participants, participated in the general meeting, where a new main board was also elected. Among the participants were members of the main board as well as representatives from local branches, municipalities, settlements and the party’s youth organization Naleqqat.
This year’s general meeting had the title “From words to action”. It comes after a period of significant progress for Naleraq. In the March 2025 Inatsisartut election, the party won eight seats and became the largest opposition party in Inatsisartut. At the general election in March 2026, Naleraq was given a mandate in the Folketing for the first time, where Qarsoq Høegh-Dam was elected.
Pele Broberg took over the chairmanship from party founder Hans Enoksen at an extraordinary general meeting in 2022. At the latest ordinary general meeting in June 2023, he was re-elected.
Strong support for Broberg
During the chairman’s election, deputy chairman Jens NapãtôK’ nominated Pele Broberg and highlighted, among other things, his qualities as chairman and person.
– He does not discriminate against others, he has good manners and he is against war. But he relaxes by playing computer games about war. When he has played, his brain is filled with new energy, says Jens NapãtôK’.
The situation in Qasigiannguit was brought up during the presidential election. Jens Vetterlain pointed to the lack of subsidies and challenges in the healthcare system.
– I am from Qasigiannguit. We are overlooked by the authorities, we do not receive sufficient subsidies, and the healthcare system lags behind. The municipality cannot lift this alone. Therefore: Use your energies on us, and I wish you good work, he said.
“I will do my best not to disappoint you”
After the election, Pele thanked Broberg for the support. He said that his motivation for entering politics is the desire to make a difference for people throughout Greenland.
– I hear your stories and hear about the conditions you live under in your hometowns. In Naleraq, it is not about a power struggle, but about us sticking together, he said.
At the same time, Broberg acknowledged that the party will face opposition and misunderstandings, but emphasized that they must be overcome together.
He also said that he first ran for Naleraq in 2018, and that at that time he had confidence in party founder Hans Enoksen.
– It touches me to hear that you have confidence in me. Thank you for voting for me. I will do my best not to disappoint you, said Pele Broberg.
Thus, he continues as chairman of Naleraq with the party’s historical election results as a background and with the task of translating the voters’ support into concrete policy.
