In the Brezovica Memorial Park, where today – on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the First Sisak Partisan Detachment and the first anti-fascist combat unit in this part of Europe – the Day of the Anti-Fascist Struggle is being celebrated, Igor Peternel, a DOMiNO member of parliament, came with a couple of his colleagues to tell the gathered to celebrate the war criminals, writes Morning paper.
– They themselves know that there is nothing to celebrate. Every normal person should be ashamed, pits are constantly being discovered, new crimes are constantly being discovered. What is celebrated? One lie is being celebrated – Peternel said, among other things, to the gathered journalists.
When SDSS leader Milorad Pupovac appeared in front of the journalists, Peternel and his team interrupted Pupovac by shouting loudly.
The leader of the SDSS told them that his role (in the Homeland War, e.g. a.) was known, unlike the role of some others, such as the murderers who at the beginning of the war kidnapped and then liquidated the parliament member of the then SKH-SDP, Dušan Trivunčić.
– You could be more knowledgeable about what happened to the SDP MP who was killed not far from here. It would be best if you could answer what happened to the SDP representative at the beginning of the war.
There is also one member of parliament (Pupovac is referring to Peternel, eg. a.) who has no obligations and responsibilities for what happened to that fellow member. But you have the guts to lie about people and things – said Pupovac to Peternel and his party colleagues.
After they threw something else at him, Pupovac answered them: “I’m not talking about doctor (Ivan) Šreter. He was an honorable man, unlike you.”
– How is it that for 45 years no one was held accountable and punished for the crimes committed by the communists? – members of DOMiNO threw at him.
After additional discussion about who should have been invited to Brezovica and whether Peternel and the team were invited at all, the spokesman of the Serbian National Council, Eugen Jakovčić, was furious and told Peternel that he should be ashamed of what he is saying today.
– Are you ashamed of the grandmother who saved your Jews, from whom did your grandmother save the Jews? – Jakovčić asked representative Peternel.
Namely, the DOMiNO representative comes from an anti-fascist family in which his grandmother and great-grandmother risked their lives during the Second World War to save Zagreb’s Jews from the Ustasha.
