Slobodna Dalmacija – Defending champions PSG defended their advantage from the first match and won the Champions League final against Arsenal

After Arsenal, the defending champion PSG qualified for the Champions League final, playing 1-1 against Bayern in Munich, securing a 5-4 victory in the first leg. After the Parisian spectacle with as many as nine goals and the triumph of PSG with 5-4, the return was still brought by tougher football with far fewer goals and opportunities.

PSG took the lead in the third minute with a goal by Ousmane Dembele, and Harry Kane equalized in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Croatian representative Josip Stanišić played for the Bavarian team until the 67th minute when he was replaced by Alphonso Davies. In the final, on May 30 at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, PSG will play against Arsenal, who beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 on Tuesday in London after the first match ended 1-1. The match was decided in the last moments of the first half, and the hero of the London team was Bukayo Saka, the only scorer in the return.

PSG won its third final, and the Parisian team won its only title last year, while in 2020 it lost to Bayern. On the other hand, Arsenal won the second appearance in the Champions League final in their history. The London team played its premier final match in 2006, when it was defeated by Barcelona.

It’s off to a great start for football fans. PSG took the lead after two minutes and 20 seconds of play. After a great pass by Fabian Ruiz, the great Georgian Kvicha Kvaratskhelia broke through the left side and put Ousmane Dembele to work with the return ball. The French striker was left alone and shot accurately from the first to give the guests the lead.

It seemed that it could be a new spectacle, we are sure, almost no one at that moment could believe that there would be no more goals until the referee’s compensation.

The Bavarians seriously threatened for the first time in the 15th minute, Luis Diaz broke through and passed to Michael Olise who immediately shot, but the Parisians blocked his shot at the last moment. In the 23rd minute, Diaz also shot, and four minutes later, Olise, both shot inaccurately over the goal.

In the 29th minute, a disputed situation occurred. Nuno Mendes played with his hand in the middle of the field, but instead of the second yellow card, the Portuguese referee Joao Pinheiro played a foul by the home player Laimer. Just two minutes later, Joao Neves also played with his hand after being shot by his teammate Vitinho in the penalty area. The Bayern players demanded a penalty kick, but the referee remained silent.

In the 44th minute, Bayern had the best chance in the first half. Musiala broke through the middle and then shot with a ground kick, but Safonov reacted perfectly.

At the opening of the second half, PSG had two good opportunities. Doue shot twice in the 57th and 63rd minutes, but Neuer reacted perfectly both times.

Bayern had the first big chance in the second half in the 69th minute when Diaz shot, but the goalkeeper of the Parisian team was ready. Safonov also saved a shot from Olise two minutes later.

The German champion tried, but it was as if the host had run out of “fuel. Vincent Kompany tried to change and raise the kick, but PSG defended expertly, and then created big problems from the counterattack. In the last moments of the match, Bayern managed to equalize. For 1-1, Kane scored, scoring 55 goals this season, including 14 in the Champions League.
