The President of the France-Algeria Association, Ségolène Royal, announced today, Tuesday, her visit to French journalist Christophe Gleize, where she handed him a group of books.
Royal revealed, through her Facebook account, that this visit took place with the approval of the President of the Republic, on the sidelines of her participation in the “African-Mediterranean Thought Meetings” recently hosted by Algeria.
This is the second visit by the former candidate for the French presidential elections in 2007, to the journalist who was sentenced to prison on charges of “praising terrorism” in the state of Tizi Ouzou.
French media reported this morning that Glez decided to waive his right to appeal against his seven-year prison sentence, hoping to obtain a presidential pardon from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
It is noteworthy that the journalist was arrested last year after entering the national territory on a tourist visa, instead of submitting an application for a press visa, as he was communicating with elements belonging to the “MAK” organization, which is classified as a terrorist organization.
