The eighth edition of the Algerian Products and Services Exhibition was opened this Tuesday evening in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, with “record” participation of national institutions.
The opening ceremony took place under the supervision of the Algerian Ambassador to Mauritania, Amin Said, accompanied by the Mauritanian Minister of Trade and Tourism, Zainab Bint Ahmadnah, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, the President of the Algerian-Mauritanian Business Council, the President of the National Federation of Algerian Exporters, the representative of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, in addition to representatives of Mauritanian economic bodies and institutions.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion highlighted the importance of the “notable economic event,” which “reflects a common will to strengthen economic partnership and expand areas of bilateral cooperation.”
The Ministry pointed out the “record” participation that characterizes this edition, with more than 350 institutions active in various sectors, including food industries, building materials, pharmaceutical industries, home electrical, services, modern technologies, health services and tourism.
In a speech he delivered on this occasion, the Algerian ambassador to Mauritania stressed that the eighth edition “represents a new station for strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries, in light of an increasing dynamic that reflects the common will of the presidents of the two countries, Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al-Ghazouani.”
The ambassador indicated that this event falls within Algeria’s drive to strengthen its presence in Africa, supported by major projects and a new structure for economic cooperation, especially after the signing of 29 agreements during the recent joint committee, which included vital sectors such as energy, transportation, and industry.
He also considered the record participation of more than 350 Algerian institutions “reflecting the diversity and level of competitiveness of the national product, as well as the development of trade exchanges between the two countries, which exceeded 400 million dollars,” according to the statements contained in the ministry’s statement.
