A moderate plume of Saharan dust is making its way across the Atlantic, carried by winds from the Saharan Desert in North Africa. It is expected to affect mainly the southern Windward Islands, including Grenada. Air quality is anticipated to be moderate starting later today and continuing up to 6 May. This advisory will remain in effect from tonight through Wednesday, 6 May.
Forecast for the State of Grenada: Satellite imagery and model data indicate that Saharan dust concentrations will begin to rise later today, peaking overnight. Conditions are expected to start improving by Thursday morning.
The Met Office will continue to closely monitor the progress of the dust plume.
