SAN MARNIO – The issues of security and the reorganization of the police forces occupied a central space in the work of the Foreign Affairs Commission which met yesterday. The Secretary Luca Beccarifollowing the solicitations and requests of the opposition, spoke on the imminent change at the top of the Gendarmerie Corps, following the decision of the commander general Maurizio Faraone to bring forward your retirement. Illustrating the identikit of the future commander, Beccari indicated how first approach the search for a figure within the Carabinieri, in line with the centuries-old collaboration between the two institutions. However, the new security challenges require an evolved profile: the new commander will have to possess specific skills in the management of international protocols (Europol, Interpol, FIEP) and direct experience in preventing and combating the infiltration of organized crime and terrorism. However, General Faraone will continue to lead the management of the Interpol National Office until his final retirement.
The moment promises to be a phase of profound transition for the entire San Marino security sector, given the simultaneous and imminent retirement of the leaders of the Fortress Guard and the Civil Police. To organically manage this transition and coordinate three new commanders, Beccari has opened up the possibility of reactivating the figure of the police force coordinator (or director of the Police Department).
