SAN MARINO – Libera expresses satisfaction with the electoral participation in Brazil and Serbia, interpreting it as a signal of the importance of citizens’ involvement in democratic life and the will to defend freedom, transparency and the rule of law.
In the statement, the San Marino political force underlines the value of popular mobilization, especially in a historical phase characterized, according to the movement, by political disaffection and risks of authoritarian drift. Voting participation is described as a fundamental tool through which citizens can influence their own future.
As regards Brazil, Libera recalls the high turnout and the reversal of the outcome of the first round in the second, presenting them as a demonstration of the ability of popular participation to influence the political path of the country and the prospects linked to social justice and sustainability.
Attention then shifts to Serbia, where the movement expresses appreciation for the result of the students’ list, as opposed to the United Serbia coalition, associated with former president Aleksandar Vučić. Libera attributes a political and symbolic meaning to the student mobilization, linking it to requests for greater transparency, strengthening of the rule of law and rapprochement with the European Union.
The San Marino formation, which defines itself as centre-left, reformist and progressive, also shows solidarity with young Europeans engaged in peaceful demonstrations to demand a better future.
The statement concludes with a reminder of the universal value of democratic participation and popular will, indicating peace and solidarity as the principles on which to build shared perspectives also in San Marino.
