Gustavo Hernandez, seeker father of his son Abraham Zeidy Hernández del Razo shared through his Twitter account that he delivered a letter to the Mexican Soccer Team.
In his video, it is shown how he carries a letter in his hand, assuring that he would “like to be watching the team become champions with his son.”
The video of just 15 seconds is accompanied by the phrase “The eyes of the world are on you, I beg you to use your voice and your heart so that everyone knows the names and history of our children missing“.
In addition, he shared the letter accompanied by the message “if my boy were here, I swear he would shout his goals and celebrate his victories like he always did.”
In his writing he expresses his wish for the soccer team to join the efforts of thousands of people who have a loved one missing.
Likewise, he expressed his desire to see the team win, but more so to celebrate Mexico’s victories with his son.
I am Gustavo Hernández, a family man, since 2024. I left my job, my city and my community to dedicate my hands and my heart to searching and finding my son Abraham Zeidy Hernández del Razo. Even though I have dedicated my life to searching for it, so far I have not been able to find it. And it’s not just me: there are more than 133,000 missing people in this country who are searched for by their loved ones every day.
Although the absence of my son has turned me into a full-time searching father, I am also Mexican, like all the families we search for, and I dream of seeing the Mexican Soccer Team champion. You, the selected ones, are national heroes for millions of people who hope to see you champions. I have that hope too, but my greatest desire is to see them champions with my son back home, making him the hamburgers that I liked to make him before they disappeared.
I am writing to you because I know that you can add your grain of sand to achieving that dream and for my son to return home so that we can see them play together. You are national heroes that the entire country admires and listens to, so you have great power to help the families who are searching for our missing people.
During the last few weeks, thousands of us have taken our search to the vicinity of the World Cup matches. We were there outside the Azteca Stadium when they played against South Africa and won 2-0. We would love to have enjoyed the game, but the search for my son and that of thousands of loved ones forces us to try to use the cameras and microphones of the World Cup so that our pain can be heard, so that the authorities stop ignoring us and resolve the human crisis that they try to hide and silence every day.
There is no more human and painful struggle in this world than having to dedicate our lives to looking for our children to return home. Despite this, they have repressed us in our demonstrations to try to silence us. Every time we try to take the search for our children to the cameras that cover the World Cup, we are received by grenadiers and shock groups that prevent us from taking our blankets to the stadiums, who tear off the search files of our loved ones and who try to turn our love into violent confrontations to discredit us, the love of searching fathers and mothers who will never respond to violence, since we walk with the faith and hope of finding and embracing our children. Even if they want to push us down that path, we will always continue looking for them with peace and love.
You, the selected ones, represent much more than a football team. They are references for all Mexicans, they are ambassadors of our country and voices capable of reaching microphones that our voice cannot reach. Every game, every message and every gesture of his has a profound impact on our country and on the conscience of millions of people.
Therefore, we ask you to look at one of the deepest wounds that Mexico faces: the disappearance of thousands of people and the tireless struggle of searching mothers who travel roads, fields, deserts and cities trying to find their daughters, sons, brothers, husbands and loved ones.
At a time when the world is watching Mexico, a gesture of empathy on your part could help make this reality visible and yes, it could bring us many steps closer to finding our children. A message, a show of solidarity or a statement in favor of searching families would send a powerful signal: that sport can also be a space for dignity, memory and hope; that the Mexican teams are true national heroes, not only because they are capable of winning a World Cup, but because they are also human, empathetic and supportive people who use their position to help heal this Mexico that has suffered so much.
We are not asking them to solve a problem that corresponds to the institutions. We ask you for something simpler and, at the same time, deeply valuable: that you accompany with your voice those who have been searching for those they love for years. May they give a break of breath to the people who need it most right now. Let them ask the authorities not to repress us in our demonstrations and the fans to understand and embrace our search. Let them use their power to ask the government to end impunity and help us find our loved ones.
Admired selected teams from Mexico, Guillermo Ochoa, Carlos Acevedo and Raúl Rangel in goal; in defense: Jorge Sánchez, César Montes, Israel Reyes, Johan Vásquez, Jesús Gallardo and Mateo Chávez; the midfielders are Edson Álvarez, Erik Lira, Luis Romo, Obed Vargas, Brian Gutiérrez, Álvaro Fidalgo, Orbelin Pineda, Luis Chávez and Gilberto Mora; Finally, the forwards called are Roberto Alvarado, César Huerta, Alexis Vega, Julián Quiñones, Raúl Jiménez, Santiago Giménez, Armando “La Hormiga González and Guillermo Martinez:
I wish you victory in this great challenge and lead Mexico to become world soccer champion. I also ask you to put a hand on your heart and understand the pain that those of us who do not find our loved ones are experiencing. We are looking for our children and all the 133,000 Mexicans that we need. You, I have no doubt, have the great power to help us find them.
