The record of telephone lines In Mexico it enters the final stretch. This measure, approved by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT), seeks to eliminate the anonymity that allows said service to be used to commit criminal activities such as theft, scams and fraud.
All users, both physical and moral, who have an active line have until June 30 to associate it with their CURP or RFC, as applicable. Otherwise, they will not be able to receive or make phone calls and text messages.

According to the CRT, there are two official options to register your phone line. The first is to enter from your cellular to the site https://registratulinea.crt.gob.mx/ and then do the following:
- Press “Line registration”.
- Select your company.
- Go to your telephone company’s portal and enter your number.
- Take a photo of your current credential (both sides) to verify the document.
- Validate your identity using your cell phone camera and following the instructions that appear on the screen.
- Ready! You will have completed the registration.
Since it is a remote modality, consider that you will only have 3 opportunities to register. If the process fails, the system will block the digital registration and you must do it in person.
The second method is to go to your company’s Customer Service Center, where you will need to present the following current documents:
- Voting credential (INE) or Passport.
- CURP updated.
Subsequently, the staff will enter your data into the system and take biometric data to validate your identity. Once the process is complete, you will receive confirmation of the registration of your line.

Remember that the process is free. And starting July 1, all lines that are not registered will be suspended and will only be able to make calls to emergency numbers, citizen service numbers, and your provider’s customer service center.
Take it into account! Not all users must complete this registration.
In accordance with Article 1 of the Guidelines for the Identification of Telephone Lines Mobile phones, numbers associated with a SIM that do not have the technical capacity to generate voice calls, send SMS messages or make calls over the Internet, are exempt.
Likewise, we present the cases in which the link should not be carried out:
- Business lines: government telephones, emergency services and citizen assistance.
- Minors: in such cases, guardians must carry out the process.
Finally, users who have a mobile plan cellular or prepaid line do not need to register, because the operator already has the personal data since the service was contracted.
This provision is part of the government’s actions aimed at combating scams and aims to eliminate anonymity and facilitate the investigation of crimes associated with the use of telephone lines.
