LONDON: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, held talks on Wednesday with Yvette Cooper, the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development, at the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in London.
The meeting underscored the strength of the longstanding strategic partnership between Oman and the United Kingdom, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to further expanding cooperation across the political, economic, cultural and scientific sectors.
The ministers also exchanged views on the latest regional developments and key international issues. Discussions focused on strengthening preventive diplomacy, enhancing coordination and consensus-building mechanisms to contain regional risks, and supporting efforts aimed at de-escalation and dialogue to promote peace and stability.
Both sides emphasised the importance of safeguarding maritime security and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of global supply chains and international trade in accordance with the principles of international law.
The two ministers reaffirmed the value of the deep mutual trust and respect that underpin Oman-UK relations and stressed the need for continued coordination on issues of shared interest to bolster constructive cooperation and contribute to regional and international stability.
