SAN MARINO – UGRAA wishes to draw the attention of enthusiasts to the provisions in force that regulate the collection of spontaneous epigean mushrooms in the territory of the Republic of San Marino.
In compliance with Law 25 January 1991 n. 9, the research and collection of mushrooms are activities subject to specific authorization. Obtaining the card is subject to verification of knowledge of elementary mycological notions and rules of correct environmental behavior, to protect the ecosystem and public health.
The card is valid for one year and must be regularly renewed. The body specifically delegated by UGRAA to manage the issuing of the “Card for the collection of epigean mushrooms in the San Marino territory” (photo below) is the San Marino Mycological Association, pursuant to art. 3 of Law n.9/1991. For information regarding release and appointments, contact the Association manager on 370.3011247.
Furthermore, UGRAA in collaboration with the San Marino Mycological Association will periodically organize the mycological training course aimed at issuing the qualification for the collection of epigean mushrooms. The training course includes theoretical lessons in the classroom, an educational trip and a final test on mycological notions and the rules of environmental behavior. The title obtained also enjoys official recognition by Italian bodies, including the Marche Region. It is specified that individuals already in possession of a license have the right to direct access to the issue or renewal of the card.
Supervision of compliance with the regulations is entrusted to the Ecological Guard Corps. Those who are caught carrying out research or collection activities without the required card will incur a pecuniary administrative sanction, as required by current law.
UGRAA invites all collectors to behave responsibly and to take advantage of the consultancy services made available to prevent dangers of intoxication and respect the state’s forest heritage. To this end, we inform you that every year the Mycological Association’s presence is active at the Prevention Department of the ISS, generally in the months of September, October and November, a fundamental point of reference for the control of the mushrooms collected and to guarantee consumption in total safety. It is therefore recommended to check the opening periods of the mycological facility.
