SAN MARINO – The ITTF World Congress took place in London on Sunday 3 May, bringing together 227 nations from all over the world. Also present was the San Marino delegation composed of the Federal President Stefano Piva and the Technical Director Claudio Stefanelli.
The San Marino representation had already participated, on Saturday 2 May, in the prestigious celebratory gala organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the World Table Tennis Federation, founded in London in 1926.
An event of great prestige and historical significance for the entire international table tennis movement, experienced with particular emotion by Claudio Stefanelli, a historical figure of San Marino table tennis.
“For me it was a strong emotion to participate in this event – says Claudio Stefanelli – because I experienced 45 years of my life in table tennis firsthand. To think that it all began at the end of the 70s at the Circolo Don Bosco in Borgo Maggiore, where as carefree boys we played ping pong, and finding myself here today, at the invitation of the President of the World Federation, represents a great reward for the commitment I have dedicated to the sport of my life”.
San Marino’s participation in the ITTF World Congress once again confirms the active presence of the San Marino Federation on the international table tennis scene and the recognition of the work carried out over the years.
