Cairo (Egypt), June 21, 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Republic is taking part in the seventh annual meeting of the National Liaison Bureaus of the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL), which is being held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on June 21–22.
The meeting is discussing issues related to organized crime, cybercrime, and other security challenges, in addition to planned future activities in the fields of capacity-building and joint operations, with the aim of strengthening the capabilities of member states in the security sector.
The annual gathering serves as a key platform for exchanging observations and expertise among the liaison bureaus of member states, as well as for presenting and addressing challenges that hinder inter-state cooperation.
The meeting is attended by heads of national liaison bureaus and expert partners from international law enforcement organizations, including INTERPOL, EUROPOL, and the African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT).
The Sahrawi Republic is represented at this annual meeting by Mr. Sidahmed Laroussi Salama, a member of the Sahrawi National Liaison Bureau and Central Director of the National Police.
