According to residents, the construction work that has been ongoing since January as part of the “Safe Route to School” project is causing additional traffic problems on rue Winston Churchill in Esch. Confusing situations regularly arise, especially during drop-off and pick-up times at the Wobrécken School and the associated “Maison Relais”. The city of Esch, for its part, refers to various traffic calming measures and emphasizes that the safety of all road users has top priority.
As part of the construction work, the public space will be redesigned. Among other things, the establishment of a “Zone résidentielle” (shared space) is planned. New lighting will also be installed and drainage work will be carried out. According to the city, the total budget is just over two million euros. The work is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
