PARAMARIBO — Inter Wanica lost without a chance against leader Robinhood in the Suriname Major League on Saturday evening. After a comfortable 4-0 halftime score, the score eventually rose to no less than 7-0. The goals were scored by Xavier Zijler (twice), Nascimento dos Santos, Rochano Soebarman, Murgillio Esajas, Gilberto Cronie and substitute Mathew Bapp.
It would have made little difference if the match would not have gone ahead. Inter Wanica, which has not yet managed to score a single point this season, was not full until shortly before kick-off. However, coach Jimmy Dassasingh’s team still managed to assemble a match selection in time.
Robinhood dominated from start to finish and barely allowed the opponent to get into the game. Inter Wanica rarely crossed the halfway line and had to constantly catch up. Yet it took until the 27th minute to open the scoring. The Brazilian Dos Santos controlled a clean cross from Jamilhio Rigters: 1-0.
Shortly afterwards Zijler doubled the lead from a similar situation, this time after a cross from the right. Inter Wanica seemed to be broken by this, because not much later central defender Soebarman was able to take the ball freely in the penalty area and shoot in hard: 3-0.
Just before half time it became 4-0. Zijler took a penalty after Rigters was knocked down in the sixteen-meter area.
The game pattern hardly changed after the break. Robinhood continued to dominate and expressed this in goals three more times. Esajas scored nicely from a rehearsed free kick, with the ball disappearing into the goal via the underside of the crossbar: 5-0. Cronie then made it 6-0, after his cross ended up in the goal behind goalkeeper Marvelous Te Vreden.
The final score was for substitute Bapp, who set the final score at 7-0.
