A group of 22 people who tried to import more than 100 kg of drugs into the country were arrested at the Bandaranaike airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka. “Armenpress”a group of 22 people was arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka, during an attempt to import 112 kg of drugs into the country.

As reported by the Daily Mirror, the law enforcement officers found cannabis and hashish among the members of the group. The total value of the banned substances is estimated at 3.45 million dollars, which is considered one of the largest seizures in the history of this airport.
The investigation revealed that the criminal scheme was organized by three monks of the temple located in Jamburalia region. They recruited 19 participants through social networks, promising free flights, accommodation and food.
The members of the group were informed that they were transporting educational materials and sweets for school children.
The law enforcers presented the members of the group to the Negombo District Court. In addition, the alleged organizer was arrested in Gampaha region.
