Total 57 employees of Dani AFC today in Slovenj Gradac share regular terminations of employment contracts for business reasons. After receiving them, the workers, most of whom are women, have a one-month notice period. The Italian-owned company is currently in the process of regular liquidation.
The company Dani AFC, where they cut leather for the automotive and furniture industries, has been facing fluctuations in orders and a reduction in the number of employees for several years due to market conditions. Just five years ago, it had more than 370 employees, and since then the number has been decreasing to 57 today.
In accordance with the Labor Relations Act, the Employment Agency of the Republic of Slovenia and the Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia informed about the dismissal of workers at the end of March.
Terminations of employment contracts will be handed out to workers who are absent during these days as well next week, otherwise representatives of the employment office will be present when they are handed out. They prepared a reminder for workers with various information about further procedures, options, rights and obligations, it is for STA explained the head of Carinthia’s labor offices at the employment office Jasmina Uršič.
Among other things, workers can already register in the register of jobseekers during the notice period, and in the register of the unemployed after the notice period has expired. Some are already in the process of negotiating with potential employers in the region. In Carinthia, they are currently mainly looking for workers to work in catering, healthcare, social services, manufacturing and construction, Uršičeva said, among other things.
In recent years, the company has been renting production premises in Slovenj Gradac from the bankrupt company Prevent Global, a part of which was also the predecessor of Dani AFC, i.e. Prevent AFC.
As the liquidator and now former director of Dani AFC said today Slavko Jovanov, these days they are finishing tidying up and cleaning the equipment and premises, which will be handed back to the bankruptcy administrator of the bankrupt company Prevent Global on Thursday.
According to Jovan, the Italian owner of Dani AFC, Dani SPA, based in the Italian city of Arzignano, decided to liquidate the Slovenian company due to high labor costs, failure to achieve set goals and other reasons. Meanwhile, the owner has already taken the machines from Slovenj Gradac to Italy, where this type of production continues, he said.
A few weeks ago, the owner also moved the headquarters of Dani AFC from Slovenj Gradac to Sežana. As Jovanov explained today, he did so because Sežana is closer to the company’s headquarters in Italy.
On the website of the Agency for Public Legal Records and Services, on April 13, a call to creditors to report claims was published, for which they have 30 days from the publication of the call. Creditors should send claims reports by registered mail to the company’s address in Sežana and attach supporting documents proving the existence, amount and due date of claims, according to the published call.
Jovanov predicts that all liquidation procedures will end in the summer.
