Yesterday, His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), witnessed the conclusion of the tripartite joint exercise in the field of search and rescue within urban areas, with the participation of specialized teams from the State of Qatar, the French Republic, and the Syrian Arab Republic.
His Excellency said in a post on his official account on the “X” platform: My brother, His Excellency Raed Al-Saleh, the Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, and I witnessed the conclusion of the first edition of the joint tripartite urban search and rescue exercise with the participation of Qatari, Syrian, and French teams, which reflected the level of preparedness and coordination between the participating teams, and consolidated the position of the State of Qatar as an international center for training and cooperation in the fields of emergency and rescue, embodying the directives of Sir. His Highness the Emir.
The conclusion of the exercise was attended by His Excellency Mr. Raed Al-Saleh, Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management of the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, His Excellency Mr. Arnaud Pecheux, Ambassador of the French Republic to the country, and a number of senior officials and officers.
From the Qatari side, the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group affiliated with the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) participated in the exercise, while the French Republic was represented by the France 3 and France 2 search and rescue teams, while the Syrian Arab Republic participated through the Civil Defense Department.
The exercise included the implementation of simulations of realistic scenarios in the field of search and rescue within urban areas, which allowed the participating teams to test their capabilities in dealing with complex situations, enhance operational coordination and exchange experiences in implementing international missions.
The exercise comes within the framework of strengthening international cooperation and developing the field capabilities of teams working in the field of search and rescue, which contributes to raising the level of preparedness and effective response to natural and humanitarian disasters, and an affirmation of the State of Qatar’s keenness to consolidate its position as a regional center for training and exchanging experiences in the fields of search and rescue, and a reflection of the commitment of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) to developing an integrated system for rapid and effective response to emergencies and disasters, in a way that enhances the readiness of search and rescue teams to deal with Various humanitarian challenges and tasks at the regional and international levels.
