Suriname will undoubtedly turn yellow tomorrow when Brazil plays its first match at the Football World Cup. According to Forward coach Werner Blackson, football fans can prepare for an exciting confrontation when the five-time world champion takes on Morocco.

Blackson expects an exciting match between two teams that have proven to be among the international top in recent years. “The match between Brazil and Morocco promises to be an interesting match, because both teams have a lot of quality and have recently delivered strong performances. Brazil is known for its attacking playing style and technical skills, while Morocco impressed with its organized defense and enormous fighting spirit during the previous World Cup. I expect a tactically interesting match in which Brazil will take the initiative, but Morocco remains dangerous in transition, says the coach of the oldest team in Suriname.”

According to the coach, this will immediately be the toughest group match for the Brazilians. “Morocco has developed into a formidable opponent. They are physically strong, tactically well organized and have proven during the previous World Cup that they can beat big countries. Brazil will have to be sharp from the first minute,” he explains.
The pressure is on Brazil
Blackson believes that the pressure is mainly on the Brazilians. “Brazil always carries with it the expectations of millions of supporters. Due to their rich football history, nothing less than profit is expected. Morocco can actually benefit from its role as an underdog and therefore play more freely.”
According to him, the match is attractive for neutral football fans because of the contrast in playing styles. “You get the creative and attacking football of Brazil against the discipline, organization and fighting spirit of Morocco. That makes this match particularly interesting.”
Influence of Ancelotti
Under national coach Carlo Ancelotti, Blackson sees a slightly different Brazil than in the past. “Ancelotti has placed more emphasis on defensive stability and team organization without taking away the Brazilian flair. There has been more balance between attack and defense, making the team less dependent on individual actions,” he says. However, according to the coach, Brazil remains recognizable. “The creativity and technical qualities are still present. However, the team now plays with more discipline and maturity.”
The player who, according to Blackson, can make the difference is Vinícius Júnior. “He has shown in recent years that he can perform at the highest level. With his speed, technique and individual actions, he remains a constant threat for any defense.” This makes up for the lack of Neymar to some extent. “Neymar remains a great loss because of his experience and creativity, but his absence also offers opportunities for players like Vinícius and Raphinha to take extra responsibility.”
Blackson believes Vinicius is ready to become one of the stars of this World Cup. “He has proven at Real Madrid that he can perform under pressure and dares to take responsibility in big matches.”
Morocco remains dangerous
Although Brazil is considered the favourite, Blackson warns against underestimating Morocco. “Morocco showed during the previous World Cup that discipline, resilience and a strong team spirit can go a long way. They are very well organized defensively and can switch quickly.”
He sees an important role for star player Achraf Hakimi. “Hakimi is of enormous value to this team. He combines speed, attacking impulses and defensive qualities. He can break open a match with one action,” says the driven coach. According to Blackson, Morocco will probably defend compactly and lie in wait on the counter. This style of play has previously brought them success against top countries. Brazil will have to remain patient and circulate the ball quickly to create openings.”
Prediction
Blackson expects this match will likely be decided in midfield. “The battle for control, pressing and creativity will be fought there,” he says.
The match he is most looking forward to is the one between Vinícius Júnior and Achraf Hakimi. “That will be a wonderful battle between two players who have speed, technique and courage.”
Despite the respect for Morocco, Blackson sees Brazil ultimately coming out on top. “Brazil has a little more individual class and experience. If they manage their chances efficiently, they should be able to win.” His prediction is therefore; Brazil – Morocco 2-1
Blackson also expects Vinícius Júnior to be named man of the match. “His speed, creativity and ability to be decisive can ultimately make the difference.” According to him, a victory would immediately send a strong signal to the other World Cup candidates. “The winner of this match immediately shows that he is ready to play an important role in this world championship.”
