Prague is continuing to expand its commitment to sustainability and is once again supporting the popular Reuse Days in numerous districts. Reuse Days in 25 districts once again invite people to exchange and reuse items.
The City of Prague is placing greater emphasis on sustainable projects and is also supporting this year the organisation of so-called Reuse Days (reuse dny) in numerous districts. At the end of April, the Prague City Council approved financial support for a total of 25 districts.
Each of the participating districts will receive funding of 60,500 crowns to organise the events for the public. A total of 27 Reuse Days are planned this year. In addition, the city is also supporting the year-round operation of two reuse centres – in Prague 8 with 319,500 crowns and in Prague-Suchdol with 90,400 crowns.

According to Deputy Mayor Jana Komrsková, the events are attracting strong public interest. Around 12,000 people attended the Reuse Days last year. The concept is based on the exchange of everyday items such as clothing, books, household goods or furniture, thereby following a key principle of the circular economy.
The balance from the previous year is positive: a total of around 22.5 tonnes of items were collected, of which more than 86 per cent were reused.
This year’s events are planned in numerous Prague districts, including Prague 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13, as well as other districts and several outlying areas such as Běchovice, Čakovice and Kolovraty.

The total amount of funding – including support for the two reuse centres – comes to around 1.92 million crowns. To support organisation, the city’s environmental department has also developed a methodology to assist districts with planning, financing and public communication. In addition, a seminar was organised for interested districts.
The project is part of several of the city’s strategic programmes, including Prague’s Climate Plan and the “Circular Prague 2030” initiative, which aims to promote more sustainable use of resources.
