SAN MARINO – A day destined to go down in the history of the Republic will be told live by San Marino RTV. On Saturday 22 August the public broadcaster will follow the pastoral visit of Pope Leo XIV to San Marino with extraordinary television coverage, accompanying viewers in all the main moments of the Pontiff’s arrival, from institutional meetings to pastoral appointments and the subsequent stop in Rimini.
San Marino RTV will be official broadcaster host of the visit to the Republic, creating and coordinating international television production in collaboration with Vatican Media and Rai. The signal produced by the San Marino broadcaster will be distributed to Italian and international television thanks to an organizational structure that will involve dozens of professionals, mobile vehicles, filming systems and advanced technologies.
The live broadcast will start at 8.30 am on channel 550 and will accompany the public until 1.00 pm, following the arrival of the Holy Father, the institutional meetings and moments of greater popular participation.
From Studio 1 of San Marino RTV the management will be entrusted to Silvia Pelliccionisupported by journalists from the editorial team present along the route of the visit. The story will be enriched by guest interventions and insights with Alessandro Gisotti, Francesca Fialdini, Giacomo Galeazzi, Father Ciro Benedettini, Verter Casali And Fabio Righiwho will offer readings on the religious, historical, institutional and diplomatic significance of the event.
The central moment of the morning will be the arrival at Palazzo Pubblico, where Pope Leo XIV will be welcomed by the Captains Regent Alice Mina And Vladimiro Selva and by the highest authorities of the Republic. Subsequently the Pontiff will reach the Basilica of the Saint to meet the clergy of the Diocese of San Marino-Montefeltro led by the Bishop Domenico Beneventi.
The coverage will continue in the afternoon with the special “Meeting at the Meeting”, broadcast from 2.30 pm by the Meeting for Friendship among Peoples. From the studio set up at the Fair, Victorian Abbot And Gianmarco Morosini followed by the visit of the Holy Father to the Meeting pavilions, the meeting with the Rimini clergy in the Cathedral and the celebration of the Holy Mass in the port area of Rimini.
The special will also accompany the 47th edition of the Meeting, scheduled from 21st to 26th August, with daily live broadcasts from 4pm to 6pm, confirming the presence of San Marino RTV in one of the most important cultural and religious events on the European scene.
The programming will be completed by special editions of the news dedicated to the visit, with reports, interviews and insights. The creation of a documentary film signed by is also planned Roberto Giacobbodedicated to the pastoral visit of Pope Leo XIV and to the history of the Republic of San Marino, with the aim of enhancing its identity, heritage and values of freedom before the international public.
