Ulaanbaatar,
April 16, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister Uchral Nyam-Osor received
Ambassador of China to Mongolia Shen Minjuan on April 14, 2026.
During
the meeting, the two sides exchanged views openly on bilateral relations and
cooperation as comprehensive strategic partners. Prime Minister Uchral
expressed readiness to work closely with Chinese Premier Li Qiang to advance
mutually agreed initiatives and further deepen cooperation at all levels.
The
Prime Minister noted the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve the
shared goal set by the two countries’ leaders in 2022 to increase bilateral
trade to USD 20 billion within five years. He highlighted the need to bring tangible
benefits to citizens by accelerating cooperation in three key areas: coal
trade, railway development, and expanding the capacity of the Tavantolgoi mine,
particularly through the launch of construction of the cross-border railway at
the Gashuunsukhait-Gantsmod ports.
The
two sides also exchanged views on economic cooperation, including the potential
import of fuel from China to supply the southern Gobi region.
Ambassador
Shen expressed appreciation for the meeting and noted that during Prime
Minister Uchral’s visit to China in March, where he met with Chinese leadership,
both sides reached mutual understanding on expanding trade, developing border
free trade zones, and strengthening cooperation in coal exports, industry, and
infrastructure.
