The Executive Branch promulgated Decree 6,215 by which the new holiday from Saturday, June 20, the “Day of the Oath of the National Constitution” is moved to Monday the 22nd. According to President Santiago Peña, the aim is to promote constitutional patriotism.
The President of the Republic, Santiago Penaordered the official transfer of the new national holiday for the “National Constitution Swearing Day” for next Monday, June 22. The historic date, which was originally commemorated on Saturday June 20was moved through the Decree No. 6,215 with the explicit objective of preventing the celebration will go unnoticed.
It is the first time in the history of the country that the swearing in of the Magna Carta of 1992 under the figure of a national holiday.

The arguments in the official document for the transfer indicate that, upon falling originally on a saturdaythere was a real risk that the date would be taken as an ordinary weekend. The Executive maintains that the transfer seeks to families become aware real about current civil liberties.
“I have decided to move this holiday from saturday 20 to the Monday 22 to give it greater emphasis and so that such a transcendent occasion does not go unnoticed. We want all Paraguayans we can celebrate our vigorous democracy republicanwhich today is exemplary in the region,” he justified.
Essential services must be guaranteed, according to decree
Decree 6,215 establishes strict exceptions and contingency cords in essential areas. The emergency medical services of hospitals and dialysis rooms are completely exempt from the holiday because they are considered essential public services.

The scheduled consultations and surgeries scheduled that are suspended due to the transfer of the holiday must be relocated on a mandatory basis within a maximum period that does not exceed seven days.
