SAN MARINO – 16 children participated in the 2026 edition of the student-athlete award promoted by the Panathlon Club San Marino, an award dedicated to middle school students who stand out both in academic performance and in sporting results. The awards ceremony took place as part of the club’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
First place was won by Tommaso Terenzi, first in the world ranking of his speed roller category. In second place, tied, were Aida D’Angeli, involved in women’s football, and Silvia Macina, track and field athlete.
Participation confirmed the high level of the candidates: six out of 16 students presented a school average above 9. Results which, according to Panathlon, demonstrate how commitment to competitive sport can coexist with excellent academic performance, without the two activities necessarily being in opposition.
The Commission also awarded certificates of special merit to Martina Mottola, who obtained the best school average with 9.83 in volleyball, Davide Muccioli for weightlifting, Kristal Battistini for karate, Ludovica Vannoni for rhythmic gymnastics and Giulia Santolini for bowls.
Luca Gasperoni (bowls and rugby), Tommy Para (cycling), Giulia Santini (gymnastics), Stéphane Maroncelli (athletics), Gaia Pezzullo (folk dance), Asia Moroni (skating) and A-Jhay De Benedetto (karate) also received the certificate of merit.
The awards were presented by the Special Secretary for Sport Alessandro Mancini, by the president of the CONS Christian Forcellini, by the director of the middle school Remo Massari and by the deputy director of BSI Alessandro Giamberini, who also presented the students with the scholarship.
The award aims to valorise young people who manage to combine school education and sporting activity, recognizing their commitment and the results achieved in both areas.
