For the autonomous body, the results of the elections constitute an unprecedented event by breaking the historical continuity of exclusively male mandates throughout the republican stage of Peru.
In that sense, the institution assured that the election of Fujimori Higuchi represents “an advance in the political participation of women and reaffirms the importance of guaranteeing equal opportunities and non-discrimination in the exercise of political rights.”

The Ombudsman’s Office assured that it trusts that the Government of Keiko Fujimori will maintain “unrestricted respect for the Constitution, democratic institutions and the fundamental rights of all people.”
Finally, the entity reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining its independence and autonomy in its daily tasks of supervision of the state administration and the defense of individual freedoms.
