The two teams started off like fire fighters in Game 3 and looked for the offense early in the game. While the first few minutes went more to Friborg, the HCD also shifted up a gear and appeared dangerous several times in front of Gottéron keeper Reto Berra.
But the guests were the first to cheer. After a mistake in the build-up game, Gottéron outwitted HCD with just one pass. Marcus Sörensen moved into the Davos zone completely alone and scored perfectly to take the lead with a powerful finish. The cheering of the people of Fribourg, however, fell silent again a short time later. As soon as the disc was back in play, HCD striker Simon Knak scored to equalize – there were 13 seconds between the two goals.
Davos led before the final third
In the middle third, the Davos team could be happy again. A short time after Sörensen missed the 2-1 for Gottéron alone in front of HCD goalkeeper Sandro Aeschlimann, the guests came dangerously in front of the goal again. During this attack, Friborg’s Maximilian Streule ran over Aeschlimann and had to go out for two minutes.

The home team immediately took advantage of this majority. Fribourg freed up and made a substitution, which goalkeeper Aeschlimann caught straight away and quickly played the disc forward to the blue line. Yanick Frehner brought the puck to Filip Zadina, who stayed cool in front of Berra and took the lead for the first time.
After the HCD narrowly missed making it 3-1 a little later, Gottéron shifted up a gear again towards the end of the second third, but was unable to succeed.
Sprunger as a match winner
In the final third, HCD had a little more of the game at the beginning and narrowly missed making it 3-1. On the other hand, the Friborg team did better in the 48th minute. After a nice combination, Lucas Wallmark scored beautifully from an acute angle via the underside of the crossbar to make it 2-2. A sensational goal from the Swede. Annoying for Davos: Just about a minute earlier, the referees overlooked a stick hit from Fribourg’s Yannick Rathgeb in the calf of HCD player Zadina. Both teams then had chances to score the third goal. The best went to the guests, who, in the person of Juuso Arola, only missed the post two minutes before the end.

In the following extra time, both teams initially missed the decisive goal. Things were different in the second overtime. In the end, the guests kept the better end for themselves. Friborg legend Julien Sprunger scored 2-3 after 89 minutes. A few minutes earlier there was also an ugly foul by Wallmark, who brought Zadina from Davos down with a stick to the knee and took him out of the game. The referees did not see the situation and accordingly did not give a penalty. However, it is quite possible that Wallmark will be blocked later.
This puts Friborg back in the series 2-1 ahead. Game 4 will follow on Friday, April 24, 2026. We will report live again from 8 p.m.
