Prime Minister John Briceño says he is not troubled by the new makeup of the RECONDEV board, even after public criticism over the appointment of Myrna Waight, who is seen as an ally of Minister Oscar Mira. Waight replaces Brian Mira as chair, but the change has not quieted concerns about influence inside the organization. Tonight, the question is not only who sits at the head of the table, but who still makes the decisions behind it.

“The people that are there now, when I asked about them, I was told several of these people had just been appointed in January. I know there are questions about Ms. Waight, Ms. Waight is a woman of integrity. She had been there from before. And I felt that if we could leave her as the chairperson we could have some kind of continuity. But there has never been anything negative about her, no allegations against her and that is why I felt that it is best if we could keep her there.”
Myrna Waight is also the sister of NTUCB President, Ella Waight.
