‘Neuromancer’ teaser: Apple TV unveils first look at William Gibson’s cyberpunk classic

Apple TV has finally lifted the curtain on Neuromancer, debuting the first teaser for its adaptation of William Gibson’s influential 1984 novel during its San Diego Comic-Con presentation. After decades of failed attempts to bring the landmark work to the screen, the cyberpunk classic is set to arrive as a 10-episode series on January 22, 2027.

The teaser introduces viewers to Chiba City, a neon-soaked future where technology, crime and artificial intelligence have become inseparable. Callum Turner stars as Case, a gifted hacker whose career has collapsed before he is recruited for one final high-risk mission. Joining him is Briana Middleton as Molly, the razor-girl mercenary whose enhanced reflexes and mirrored eyes have made her one of science fiction’s most iconic characters.

Rather than revealing major story beats, the trailer focuses on atmosphere. Towering megacities, holographic skylines, cybernetic implants and flashes of brutal action establish a world that feels both futuristic and unsettlingly familiar. The footage leans heavily into Gibson’s vision of cyberspace, hinting at a story driven as much by corporate power and digital espionage as by spectacle.

The series also stars Mark Strong, Clémence Poésy, Peter Sarsgaard, Joseph Lee, Emma Laird and Dane DeHaan. It has been created by Graham Roland and J.D. Dillard, with Roland serving as showrunner while Dillard directs the pilot episode. William Gibson is attached as an executive producer alongside Drake’s DreamCrew Entertainment, Skydance Television and Anonymous Content.

First published in 1984, Neuromancer is widely regarded as the novel that defined the cyberpunk genre, influencing everything from The Matrix and Ghost in the Shell to modern video games such as Cyberpunk 2077. Despite its enormous cultural impact, the book has never received a live-action adaptation until now, making Apple’s series one of the most closely watched science fiction projects currently in development.
