During the past day and night, police officers throughout the country deprived 21 drivers of their freedom due to reckless driving of a motor vehicle, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
Of those arrested, 13 people were driving a vehicle without a driver’s license, seven were under the influence of alcohol, and one driver was driving a vehicle despite a driving ban.
According to information from the Ministry of the Interior, of the 13 drivers found without a driver’s license, five are from Skopje, two from the Tetovo region, and one each from Makedonska Kamenica, Kumanovo, Gostivar, Kichevo, Debar and Bitola.
Seven drivers were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Three of them were detained in Skopje, and one each in Sveti Nikole, Kumanovo, Tetovo and Veles.
In addition, a driver was detained in Kichevo who was driving a vehicle even though he had an active driving ban.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs informs that appropriate criminal charges will be filed after complete documentation of the cases.
At the same time, the Ministry of the Interior appeals to all traffic participants to respect traffic rules and regulations, not to drive a vehicle without passing a driving test, if they have been issued a measure prohibiting driving or are under the influence of alcohol, in order to jointly contribute to greater traffic safety.
