At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kasim Zomart Tokaev, the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, will pay an official visit to Kazakhstan on June 19 and 20.
This is the first official visit of the President of Montenegro to the Republic of Kazakhstan, which comes in the year marking 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
As the president’s office said, the visit represents an important step forward in further deepening bilateral cooperation and confirmation of mutual readiness to transform existing political relations into stronger economic, institutional and development cooperation.
“Kazakhstan is the largest economy in Central Asia, which is an important partner of the European Union in the fields of energy and transport. In this context, the visit of President Milatović and the planned talks with the officials of this country aim to better position Montenegro in Kazakhstan and improve cooperation in the areas of investments, tourism, energy and transport,” Milatović’s cabinet said.
Special attention, they add, will be devoted to the intensification of economic ties and the attraction of new investments, and it is precisely for this reason that a large business delegation headed by the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro is traveling to Kazakhstan with President Milatović.
“As part of the visit, a number of bilateral agreements and memoranda of cooperation will be signed, including agreements between chambers of commerce and national tourism organizations, as well as a memorandum of understanding with Radio Television of Montenegro, which will further strengthen the institutional framework for the development of specific joint projects and initiatives. These documents represent an important step towards creating more favorable conditions for business cooperation, increasing trade exchanges and strengthening the connection of institutions, businessmen and citizens of Montenegro and Kazakhstan,” the announcement reads.
The official visit to Kazakhstan, they conclude, represents the continuation of the active diplomatic policy of President Milatović, aimed at strengthening the international position of Montenegro, opening new economic partnerships and creating development opportunities for citizens and the economy.
