Mc Collin signs with Kedah Sunshine in Malaysian Netball League

For­mer T&T net­baller Kali­fa Mc Collin has signed with Malaysian Net­ball Su­per League club Kedah Sun­shine for the 2026 sea­son, the fifth edi­tion.

Mc Collin, who plays both the goal-at­tack and goal-shoot po­si­tions, was re­cent­ly named the ‘Most Valu­able Play­er’ of the Courts All Sec­tors Net­ball League for the third sea­son in a row and now joins a host of in­ter­na­tion­al play­ers from renowned net­ball na­tions, in­clud­ing Aus­tralia, New Zealand, Ja­maica, South Africa, Ugan­da, Malawi, Zim­bab­we, and Botswana, in an ef­fort to en­hance the league’s com­pet­i­tive­ness and pro­vide lo­cal play­ers with valu­able ex­po­sure.

The 30-year-old Mc Collin pre­vi­ous­ly played in Eng­land at both the Celtic Drag­ons (2016-2017, 2019) and Lon­don Mav­er­icks (2018) as well as with South­ern Steel in the ANZ Pre­mier­ship in New Zealand in 2020 and the Sun­corp Aus­tralian Net­ball Su­per League with the now de­funct Colling­wood Mag­pies.

KL Wild­cats are the de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons, hav­ing de­feat­ed Pu­tra­jaya Dy­na­mites in the NSL 2025 fi­nal 46-45.

The oth­er teams are Jo­hor Jew­els, KL Wild­cats, Mela­ka Mys­tique, Negeri Sem­bi­lan Ven­om, Pa­hang Tulips, Per­ak Phoenix and Se­lan­gor An­gels.

Cel­comDi­gi Berhad (Cel­comDi­gi) is al­so join­ing NSL for the first time as ti­tle spon­sor, re­flect­ing the cor­po­rate sec­tor’s con­fi­dence in the league’s po­ten­tial as a plat­form for ad­vanc­ing women’s pro­fes­sion­al net­ball in Malaysia.

As­tro, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Malaysian Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tion (PB­JM), will of­fi­cial­ly jump off on Sat­ur­day, April 11, at Sta­di­um Juara, Buk­it Kiara, with the eight teams com­pet­ing in 64 match­es across the six-week sea­son.

A key high­light of the 2026 sea­son is the NSL Re­gion­al Cup, which will take place from May 14 to 17 May 2026, fol­low­ing the con­clu­sion of the main league. The tour­na­ment will fea­ture two in­vi­ta­tion­al teams from Sin­ga­pore and Hong Kong, to­geth­er with the top two NSL teams.
