The president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported that the federal government preventively activated the Marina Plan and the DN-III-E Plan Given the evolution of the Tropical Storm Boriswhich is located off the Mexican Pacific coast and will cause intense rains in various entities of the country.
During her morning conference, the federal president called on the population to remain attentive to the authorities’ warnings and take extreme precautions, particularly in Guerrero and Oaxacawhere the greatest impacts due to rainfall are expected.
Sheinbaum pointed out that, according to reports from the National Meteorological Service and the National Water Commission (Conagua), the phenomenon was located about 80 kilometers southwest of Punta Maldonado, Guerrero, and keeps a wide strip of the Pacific coast under surveillance.
“It is a tropical storm, which means that they are expected very, very intense rains. So, to the entire population of the Pacific coast, but particularly Guerrero, Oaxaca, Michoacán and some of Colima, to be very attentive to the warnings from the authorities and to take extreme precautions,” he expressed.
The head of the Executive indicated that there is a prevention zone due to the effects of a tropical storm from Lagunas de Chacahua, Oaxaca, to Tecpan de Galeana, Guerrero, while the rains could also impact areas of Michoacán, Colima and Jalisco.
Given this scenario, he reported that elements of the Secretariat of National Defense and the Secretariat of the Navy are already prepared by activating the aid protocols to the population. “They already have the DN-III Plan and the Marina Plan,” he stated.

The President announced that in the next few hours Civil Protection authorities, Conagua, the National Meteorological Service and the Navy will offer detailed information on the trajectory and possible effects of the phenomenon, as well as the preventive actions that will be implemented in the entities at risk.
Likewise, he warned that this year there could be a most intense rainy and cyclone season than usual due to the weather conditions in the Pacific Ocean, so its government will maintain permanent surveillance and reinforce prevention measures to protect the population.
