Monaco’s dining scene has received international recognition after Marlow, the British-inspired restaurant located in Mareterra, was selected for the 2026 list of the world’s most beautiful restaurants by the prestigious Prix Versailles.
The annual distinction highlights outstanding contemporary hospitality venues that combine architectural excellence, creative design and a strong connection between their setting and culinary identity. Only 16 restaurants worldwide were chosen for this year’s list, with Marlow becoming the sole representative from the Principality.
Opened in January 2025, the restaurant has quickly established itself as one of Mareterra’s flagship destinations. Situated on the district’s central square, Marlow blends British influences with Monaco elegance, offering a concept that extends beyond gastronomy to encompass architecture, interior design and lifestyle.
The venue was conceived by artist and interior architect Hugo Toro, whose design draws inspiration from Britain’s historical ties to the Riviera. The interior combines refined club-style aesthetics with contemporary touches, centred around a striking bar and a series of carefully curated spaces designed to evoke a sense of discovery and character.
Prix Versailles praised the restaurant for creating an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and welcoming, while successfully linking its architectural vision with a menu inspired by classic British cuisine.
Supported by UNESCO, the Prix Versailles programme recognises exceptional contemporary projects across a range of sectors including restaurants, hotels, airports and cultural venues. Selection for the 2026 restaurant list now places Marlow in contention for one of the competition’s highest honours, including the overall Prix Versailles title and special awards for interior and exterior design, which will be announced later this year.
