A beauty salon owner has been arrested in Phnom Penh after he kicked a tuk-tuk driver who later died from his injuries.
The incident occurred at 8.56pm on Wednesday, on Street 310, Group 17, village 2, Boeung Keng Kang 2 commune, Boeung Keng Kang district.
The victim was named as Chhieng Sovanna, a 46-year-old tuk-tuk driver, who died at 6.20pm on Saturday, from village 5, Boeung Keng Kang district’s Olympic commune.
Police arrested Tan Buntha, 34, owner of N168 Beauty and Spa, from Boeung Keng Kang 2 commune.
The victim and Buntha argued over Sovanna’s tuk-tuk parked in front of Buntha’s house, blocking his car from entering.
After a verbal altercation, the suspect jumped at the victim, causing him to fall backwards and sustain serious injuries. He was taken to Angkor Duong Hospital for treatment and later discharged.
Due to the severity of his injuries he died. The medical examiner concluded, after an autopsy, that the victim died from a severe head injury.
