A new scheme will reduce rental costs for voluntary organisations and trade unions operating from state-owned properties, the government said.
The revised rates are based on property size, with smaller premises capped at €200 annually and larger sites reaching a maximum of €2,000. Existing tenants already paying lower rents will retain the more favourable rate.
The measure is intended to ease financial pressure on organisations that typically operate with limited resources. However, eligibility is restricted to entities without outstanding arrears and those formally recognised by the Lands Authority.
The scheme reflects an effort to support civil society organisations, although its overall impact will depend on how widely it is accessed and whether it leads to measurable improvements in organisational capacity.
