The belief of visitors to concerts, especially popular music, that Slovenia is a second-class country is quite justified. Here, concerts by the world’s biggest music stars are the exception rather than the rule. In the 1980s and 1990s, however, it was quite different.
Although Slovenia has many concert venues – halls, semi-open and completely open summer festival stages -, in the last twenty years we have watched with envy how Budapest, Belgrade and Zagreb have taken the lead in hosting the world’s biggest stars. Vienna has always excelled in this.
