85 years have passed since the first mass deportation of Lithuanian residents to Siberia. In the Seimas, on the occasion of the Day of Mourning and Hope, the Speaker of the Parliament Juozas Oleks emphasized that freedom is not inherited – every generation must protect it. Right before noon, the victims of the occupation were honored with a minute of silence. After that, the national flag was raised, a procession of respect and a flower-laying ceremony took place on Aukų Street.
