The Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund inaugurated yesterday Derna’s 2,000 housing unit Al-Salam project.
The project includes various service, health, and security facilities and involved the completion and reconstruction of part of a comprehensive plan to restore urban stability to the Storm Daniel beleaguered city.
The inauguration ceremony, held in the neighbourhood, was attended by Khalifa Hafter, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, Eastern based Libyan Prime Minister, Osama Hammad, Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar, along with several members of parliament, ministers, representatives of diplomatic missions, and international guests.
The Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund emphasized that what has been achieved in Derna represents a genuine transformation from promises to accomplishments, stressing that the true measure of success is what is implemented on the ground, not what is announced.
It said the project is not limited to providing housing units, but rather presents an integrated urban model that reflects the state’s direction towards building modern cities according to advanced planning standards.
